OEM Intel Celeron

Marketing Of OEM Intel Celeron

OEM Intel Celeron is a 478 pin package processor with speeds up to 2.0GHz. The Intel Celeron is the brand name of Intel microprocessor series. As a chipset the Intel Celeron is a series of microprocessors which have been included in the Pentium III, IV, M and Dual Core by Intel Corp. The word OEM that is combined with other Pentium releases refers to Original Equipment manufacturer. The coining of OEM with the Celeron processor is done so as to protect copyright infringement. This is particularly seen as many computer vendors and distributors sell a product under the same name. The OEM product is seen as high quality brand product as it is distributed under the name of the brand company. As the OEM Intel Celeron consists of a single microprocessor component, it becomes important that users should know that the product is the original.

Intel Celeron

Intel launched the series of its processors under the brand name of Celeron in 1999 with the first release of Pentium III. The Celeron chipsets are manufactured to provide processing speeds that are greater than 800 MHz. The evolution of the Celeron processor can be seen with the following points-

- Covington-

This was the first Celeron that was released with speeds up to 266MHz. However with applications demanding higher speeds especially in terms of multimedia software it became crucial to extend the processing speed with other Intel processors.

- Mendocino-

This was the first mass market CPU which utilized an L2 cache. Moreover the up gradation is speed to 300MHz was another important advance in the Celeron evolution. There were various other releases in the Celeron series which included the Coppermine-128 and Tualatin-256.

- Celeron D and Celeron Core-

With the release of each Celeron Chipset there was massive improvement in the overall speed of the microprocessor. The Celeron D presented a technology with micro processing speeds up to 2.26 GHz. The Celeron D was specifically designed for the Pentium 4 series. However with the Celeron Core provide similar speed of more than 2 GHz. However the technology of the Celeron Core was improved in terms of in built micro architecture.

These pointers help in analyzing the overall evolution of the Celeron Chipset which has been seen with the introduction of microprocessors that provided speeds up to 200MHz and have now evolved to 2.0 GHz. However the next in the series of Intel microprocessors includes the Dual Core processor which combines the capacity of two processors and processes applications at greater speeds.

OEM Intel Celeron

OEM is a specific tag line that is associated with Intel Celeron processors so as to distinguish the processors that are manufactured within the CPU by Intel from the CPU that are manufactured by assemblers and other vendors.

OEM Intel Celeron has enabled Intel to sell its microprocessors so as to give users confidence that they are buying the original product of Intel. Moreover OEM Intel Celeron has enabled Intel to manufacture microprocessors under a specific brand name so as to avoid confusion with the other releases of its products.
