Recent Cut In Intel Xeon Prices
The present world goes round on computers. Most companies have shifted to the use of computers to get their job done. In such an environment, the search for the best processor at the most desirable price is on. Since the time that computers have started to be made for commercial use and with more and more home users buying computers for use at home, computer software and hardware companies have been working hard to come up with the best products. The race is heating up with computer software and software companies launching newer technology at affordable rates every other day. For example, the Intel Xeon prices are some of the most competitive in the processor market. This has led to a lot of choice being offered to the consumer. However, a consumer who is spoilt for choice can also be the one who has a lot of confusion regarding the product to be chosen.
In the case of processors, the leading makers AMD and Intel are launching newer versions of their processors in a bid to capture the huge market that is already there and the one which is opening up. The Intel Xeon prices have recently been made much more competitive. But before that we can survey the advantages of using Intel Xeon processors over AMD processors. Being the market leader, the chances of compatibility problems with most hardware or software systems are much less compared to AMD. These processors are basically targeted at workstation and server markets (non consumer). There are many generations of processors which have been launched under the Xeon brand name. So if you are looking only at buying something from the Xeon brand, you also have to decide what exactly you want.
Intel Xeon prices have been slashed recently in a bid to make the Xeon workstation processors more competitive in the processor market. This slash in Intel Xeon prices is apparently due to competition faced from the first quad-core Opteron processors launched by AMD called Barcelona. This means that, price-wise, the Xeon 5300 quad-core processor is much closer to the dual core processors with .Along with the generous reduction in Intel Xeon prices and the company also has other plans to overcome competition. The Xeon 5300 processor (whose code name is Clovertown) will be launched by the company which works at a frequency of 2 GHz and consumes only 50w. Also, an additional feature of Clovertown would be that instead of the 1066 MHz, the new model would become 1333 MHz. If you compare the Xeon 5300 to AMD Barcelona, you will also notice that Intel wins hands down since even its low power consuming model consumes 68w.
The price war which is continuing between the two giants is benefiting the user. Recent elopements include the heavy reduction of Intel Xeon prices. The Intel Xeon X5355 rates have been slashed from $1172 to $744 which is a 37% reduction in prices. The most drastic reduction has happened in the E5335 model where rates have been slashed by 54% from $690 to $316. Other models have also seen a huge reduction in the prices, making Intel Xeon capable of staying on top in the market.
