Temperature Management With Intel Fan

Intel fan controls the temperature of the CPU which enables the effective thermal management in the CPU. In the processing of information the circuit of the motherboard on the microprocessor is based gets heated up. In such situations the microprocessor or the mother board would heat up beyond its general temperature that would lead to a malfunction of the microprocessor. In order to regulate the temperature Intel fan enables the regulation of the temperature in the CPU.

Thermal Management

The microprocessor is made from a silicon based compound which enables transfer of heat to the CPU fan. It is this exothermic reaction which is important for the overall thermal management within the CPU. The Intel fan is situated atop the microprocessor itself. This type of fan is known as a heat sink fan as it regulates the temperature of the microprocessor which is situated just above the micro chip. The functioning of the Intel fan can be seen through the following points-

- Dissipation of heat- The microprocessor is the heart of the CPU it is here where million of transactions are done in a second. As electric energy is transferred from the main power circuit into the microprocessor, friction is created. This friction results into heat energy which should be transferred out of the microprocessor as it may lead to its melt down. Once the Intel fan has removed the heat energy from the microprocessor, the heat gets absorbed through the external fan outlet.

- Power regulation- Depending upon the heat that the microprocessor is generating, the fan will adjust its velocity accordingly. However it depends upon the time that the user is on the computer. If it is more than 4 hours the CPU temperature reaches its peak temperature. It is during this time that the Intel fan increases the utilization of power in order to rotate at higher speeds. Once the heat has been reduced to the general level the fan switches its speed to the general velocity.

- Configuration- The maximum temperature that the CPU can reach is 73 degrees with the 3.4 GHz processor. The Intel Fan is uniquely configured with each Pentium model through which it controls the temperature depending upon the speed of the Intel microprocessor. If it is a 1.3 GHz microprocessor then the temperature should be around 40 degrees within the CPU. Otherwise if it is above the range of 3.4 GHz the temperature would reach a peak of 73 degrees. However the Intel fan is configured to each Intel microprocessor, so as to provide the right power management.

The Intel fan is a unique technology adaptation which has allowed Intel Corporation to manufacture its microprocessors with adequate safety mechanisms which not only prevent hazard but provide enhance functioning for the microprocessor.

There are millions of transistors within a microprocessor which enable them to execute instructions within a second. Being the central core of the CPU it becomes important that it is maintained in a secure environment so as to ensure that there are no malfunctions. The Intel fan provides this secure environment.
